Tony Dean’s year-long review of key aspects of the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT) has had far-reaching effects. Shortly after Dean’s report was released on Nov. 20 many construction industry alliances, associations, trade groups and unions offered their take on what the report means to them. While some stakeholders are resoundingly in favour of Dean’s recommendations, and others cautiously optimistic, there are some who have come out criticizing the review — concerned for the future. This is the first of a two-part feature that represents where some stakeholders stand on the Dean report.
